Important Directive for Film Producers, Production Houses, OTT Platforms, Animation Studios, and Digital Content Creators

Notice to Media & Digital Content Creators

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) hereby issues this important directive for the information and strict compliance of film producers, directors, scriptwriters, production houses, OTT platforms, animation studios, AI-content developers, advertising agencies, and all digital media creators.

This directive is issued in pursuance of the Order passed by the Hon’ble Panj Singh Sahiban at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in their meeting held on 28 December 2025, which is binding upon the entire Sikh Panth.

Strict Prohibition

It is hereby clearly and categorically directed that no films, feature films, short films, animation films, web series, documentaries, AI-generated videos, digitally altered visuals, deepfake content, or any other visual or audio-visual material shall be produced, published, broadcast, streamed, circulated, or monetised that depict, represent, recreate, imitate, or copy any of the following:

The Sikh Gurus
Members of the Guru Sahiban’s Families
Chaar Sahibzade
Puratan Sikh Warriors and Martyrs
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
Sikh Religious Rituals, Maryada, Symbols ,or Sacred practices
Any visualised or dramatised portrayal of Sikh history that violats Sikh religious principles and traditions
Such depictions are strictly prohibited under Sikh religious traditions and maryada . Any visual, animated, AI-generated, or digitally manipulated representation of the Sikh Gurus or Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is considered religiously impermissible and causes grave hurt to Sikh religious sentiments .

Use of Modern Technology

The Hon’ble Panj Singh Sahiban have taken serious note of the misuse of modern technology, Artificial Intelligence, and digital tools . These emerging technologies pose serious challenges to Sikh identity, traditions, philosophy, and sacred heritage .

The Order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib , being the highest temporal authority of the Sikhs , is binding and mandatory . Any individual, organisation, or platform acting in violation of this directive shall be deemed to have acted against Sikh religious sentiments and Panthic discipline .

Appeal & Compliance

The SGPC appeals to all creative, digital, and media entities to respect the sanctity of the Sikh faith , uphold religious harmony, and strictly comply with the Order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib (Dated: 28-12-2025) in letter and spirit.

This directive is issued in the larger interest of preserving Sikh religious identity, traditions, and sacred values in the contemporary technological era.
